"Only the first one's free"

Last Friday, my computer (a gracious gift from Paul) which I lovingly adorned with purple and silver flames, started making crunching noises from the drive area and then commenced to shut itself off. It became painfully clear that I would need to purchase a computer (which seemed reasonable since I needed more memory anyway and the odds of me putting memory into my computer successfully were slim to none). So Karriem and I embarked on a bold adventure yesterday to the Apple store in Clarendon and I bought myself an Mac Mini (it's absolutely adorable!) and an HP All-In-One printer/scanner/copier whose posibilites delight me to no end. I also bought an I Pod mini because it was pink (is that wrong?). I spent some serious money, but I really felt good about my new technological capablilites. We came home and started setting things up and all looked well, except that we had to go to Radio Shack to get a converter for my mouse and keyboard. Upon our return, I realized I also needed a cord for my printer but left it till today. I loaded some music onto my I Pod (with the intentions of going to the gym today, which I did not) and Karriem and Sol and I had a great time messing around with the display settings.
I was so excited to get home from work today to play with my computer, unfortunately, when I turned the system on, the computer worked, but the monitor was just sitting there clicking. I hooked up my old computer to it and still nothing. Words could not express my rage. So I trucked myself down to Radio Shack again and spent another $300 for a new monitor, it's a flat screen (and then $20 for the printer cable) and FINALLY my computer works. Now my room is littered with owners manuals, plastic baggies and twist ties. All I know is, I better put some of this stuff to work for me cause that's an awful lot of money to be playing Free Cell.

Hey G!
Wow! Telling me you got an iPod was just the tip of the iceberg!!! I know it was a lot of money to spend, but Macs last forever! You'll want a new model before it wears out! My iBook is still doing what I need it to do and it's 5 years old now. I'm so excited for you! I know you will have a lot of fun with all your new toys (and they will be a nice distraction from work, hmmm???) And just remember, all the cool people have Macs!

It was great seeing you yesterday!

Your sister geek,

B

From what I've read online, macs go two ways when people get them, you either hate em, or love em, but that does not include the feelings of rage bestoded apon thy people who run into hardware malfunctions with their purdy looking ibooks and powerbooks and ipods and G4'S and G5's etc. Mac just turns a blind eye and asumes everything is your fault, and in many cases it is, but mac should know, it's never the customers fault. Anyways, that's just my 2 cents.
