So I had the opportunity to live in Virginia for all of 9 months, two years ago. Apparently, I owed taxes from the first six months I moved there. Of course I realize that I am obligated to pay them (so I did) to the tune of $275.
During my stay in VA I also found that the Arlington police are parking Nazis after the third parking ticket I recieved.
A couple months ago, I recieved a traffic ticket for an HOV violation even though the cop didn't know when 66 was actually HOV except that he knew it was just then. (fyi, that cost $105).
So I wondered, what could Virginia be doing with all that money? Are schools here better than else where? I haven't really heard that. Is public transportation expansive and reliable? No unless you live walking distance from a Metro station. Is the police force well equipted and trained? Not by my experiance. Last summer a man jumped out of the bushes and tried to rape me. It took so long for police to respond (even after the first trooper showed up) that four squad cars, a K-9, and a ghetto bird could not find a drunken, ethnic man in a white, upperclass, residential neighborhood.
Viirginia's saving grace? Smokes are cheap.
